Cheap flights with Virgin Australia (VA)

Virgin Australia in short

Virgin Australia was formerly known as Virgin Blue Airlines. It is now Australia’s second-largest airline after Qantas. Virgin Australia started off as a low-cost carrier, after which it decided to improve its services in order to become a self proclaimed “new World Carrier”. Which comes down to offering low-cost flights to those who are looking for it, along with extra service flights. Virgin Australia International hosts both domestic as well as international flights.

Check-in

Check-in with Virgin Australia is easy and fast. You are able to check in online via desktop, tablet or mobile using the online Check-in portal that is available. Online Check-in for domestic travel opens 48 hours prior to the scheduled flights departure, and it closes 45 minutes prior.

Carry-on baggage

On domestic, international short haul and international long haul flights you are allowed to take up to 7kg of carry-on baggage with you on board of the plane. With a total combined measurement of 105cm for the domestic and international short haul flights, and a total of 115cm for international long haul flights. (Length x Width x Depth)

Checked baggage

The allowed maximum weight of your checked baggage on board of a Virgin Australia flight is dependant on the travel class that you have chosen. For all classes except for Business Saver and Business Class, there is a maximum of 32kg of checked baggage allowance. For all the other classes, you are allowed 23kg. The amount of bags that you can take with you on board of one of these flights is dependant on your Velocity membership level. If your level is Platinum for instance, you are allowed three bags that each weigh 23kg instead of one bag of 23kg when you are traveling Economy Class.
