Flights to Cairns
Best known as a stopping off point for the Great Barrier Reef and the other natural wonders of Far North Queensland (FNQ for short), Cairns was once upon a time a rugged mining town. Later it developed into a thriving port, and it played a major part in WWII as a base for the Allied Forces in the Pacific. Today it's a tourist-centred city with a relaxed vibe, a place where suits and ties are outnumbered by bikini tops and boardshorts. Nestled against the cool foothills of the Atherton Tableland, its sparkling waterfronts and picturesque beach suburbs enjoy balmy year round tropical weather, and its market stalls are bursting with mouth-watering local produce.[**More to do's in Cairns >>**](/flights/australia/cairns/what-to-do)
