Things to do in Newcastle
Newcastle has plenty of festivals all year round for you to enjoy during your stay. Besides this, the Newcastle Art Gallery is home to one of Australia's biggest art collections outside of a major capital city. It is a very good place to visit if you wish to see the best of some of Australia's visual artists. The Newcastle Museum was founded in 1988, and features exhibitions relating to coal mining and steel production, which play a big role in New Castle's history.
Glenrock lagoon is a beautiful sight see. It is a popular hiking route among tourists, and definitely a place to check-out if you want to clear your mind.
Stockton Beach is a great place to visit if you enjoy camping, laying on the beach and surfing. Besides this, you can also go fishing.
Fort Scratchley used to be a coastal defence installation back in 1882, and it has been turned into a Museum. Where you can enjoy some of the history that Newcastle has to offer.
