Cheap Flights To Vadodara

Nestled along the banks of the Vishwamitri River and one of the most popular regions of the state of Gujarat, Vadodara is an intriguing city of contrasts, with ancient sites lying side by side with modern and cosmopolitan shopping malls. This intoxicating fusion of old and new entices thousands of visitors to the area each year. Historical records indicate that the first settlers to the area arrived circa 812 AD -- mostly traders and their families. Around that time, the populace was predominantly Hindu, but in the years following the city was governed by Muslims and Mughals.

The region enjoys a tropical Savanna climate, with scorching temperatures throughout the year. Steeped in history and culture, the city is very diverse, which is reflected in the many languages and mixed culture of its inhabitants. Although boasting a myriad of attractions and activities for visitors, without a doubt the most popular is Champaner: a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hindus, Muslims, Christians and Sikhs live side by side in this region and throughout the year numerous festivals are organised to celebrate their deities and traditions. Visit during the month of October when the Navratri Festival is hosted. The nine-day event is held in honour of the Goddesses Durga or Shakti and festival goers dance the ras in Garba and the carnival-like event culminates with feasting, parades and traditional music.
