Tournament of Roses Parade (January)

Every year since 1980, the Tournament of Roses Parade has been something of a New Year's tradition. This New Year's Day event is broadcast to millions of viewers around the globe and involves over 40 elaborately-decorated floats, dozens of musical bands and groups of horses parading through downtown Pasadena.

Grammy Awards (February)

The Grammy Awards, which have been given out since 1959, honor the best music of the year in the business. The star-studded awards show is always held at Crypto.com Arena. It is shown all over the world and has dozens of live performances.

Academy Awards (February)

The Academy Awards are the oldest entertainment awards ceromony. They started in 1929 at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and are now held at the Dolby Theatre on Hollywood and Highland. More than 225 countries watch the Oscars show every year.

Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire (April – May)

Between early April and mid-May each year, this historically-themed event occurs at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, attracting more than 200,000 people and featuring Renaissance-themed entertainment as well as music, food, costumes and dancers.

Battleship USS Iowa Memorial Day (May)

At San Pedro each Memorial Day, the 16-inch main guns of the Battleship IOWA provide the backdrop to a moving tribute to the servicemen who lost their lives serving their country in combat. There are family-friendly musical performances, film screenings and tours of the ship.

LA Pride (June)

LA Pride, one of the biggest LGBTQIA+ events in the country, is going back to its roots with a 50th anniversary parade in Hollywood, a headline performance by Christina Aguilera at Los Angeles State Historic Park, and much more.

July 4th Fireworks Spectacular (July)

The annual July 4th Fireworks Spectacular at the Hollywood Bowl is a beautiful outdoor event that incorporates world-famous musicians and spectacular fireworks displays.

Emmy Awards (September)

Annually, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences celebrates the best in television entertainment with the Primetime Emmy Awards. The ceremony will be held in Downtown Los Angeles, at the Microsoft Theater at L.A. LIVE.

Halloween Carnaval (October)

Considered as the world's largest Halloween street part, there's gonna be more than half a million people join the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval. Six stages of live music and other performances can be seen at this free, all-ages festival.

Hollywood Christmas Parade (December)

Every year during the holiday season, the Hollywood Christmas Parade, which has been staged on the Sunday after Thanksgiving since 1933, along world-famous Hollywood Boulevard, features floats, horseback riders, vintage vehicles, marching bands, and, of course, celebrities.

Smorgasburg

Head to ROW DTLA to experience the huge weekly Sunday market Smorgasburg, a spinoff of the Brooklyn Flea Market. Foodies will delight in the huge range of gastronomical wonders on offer. There are foods from local businesses such as Raindrop Cake and Donut Friend, as well as stalls with clothing, furniture and homewares on sale too.
